The NC State Hop Farm tour on July 14, 2012 was hosted by Jeanine Davis from Mills River, NC. She is a researcher with NC State University at the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center in Western NC. Her goal is to help farmers improve the sustainability and profitability of their farms by conducting research and providing education on a variety of crops.
The experimental hop yard includes 200 total hops plants on 1/4 of an acre. The hop yard contains 10 different U.S. hops varieties planted randomly throughout the experimental site. This hop yard was made possible with the support of the Golden Leaf Foundation.
