Bitter Unicorn Tears is a highly imaginary recipe that the fine folks at Tyler’s Taproom and Deep River developed as a departure from the traditional IPA. And India Pale Lager (IPL) is like an IPA from a parallel universe. We use a lager strain of yeast in this beer and ferment it at a lower temperature which helps to highlight the hop flavor and aroma. We hop this beer with over two pounds per barrel of a blend of some of the most hard to get hops known as “unicorn tears” in the hop world. The unicorn tears mixed with rainbow shavings help make this beer highly coveted. No unicorns were harmed in the making of this beer.

Limetown Lager is a variation of our Cottontown Lager in which we add over five pounds of lime juice and zest per barrel. The limes give the beer a well-rounded snappy citrus quality which plays well with the sleek framework that is Cottontown Lager.

We collaborated on this beer with our friends at Screaming Chicken Racing. They are a professional motorcycle race team based in the area. The things that make them competitive are; they know the fastest way around the track, they keep the rubber side down (most of the time), and most importantly the faster you get to the finish line the better the chances are that a Limetown Lager will be waiting for you. #ChasingTheDream

The Carpetbagger elusively strolls into town with hops from far away lands. Don’t bet your futures on it. But if we made this beer year round, we wouldn’t be hop poor. Here is to the beer that is released once a year and cherished by all.

This beer is an Imperial IPA that we purpously add a huge amount of late addition hops to. We balance everything out with a large dose of high Alpha Acid Hops both prior to and at the beginning of the boil we then dry hop this beer 3 seperate times to give the beer the 1-2 punch that every hophead can enjoy.

Drag The River is an American style barleywine aged in bourbon barrels for 16 months. The beer has notes of raisins, caramel, and toffee. The body can be characterized as chewy and slightly viscous. Just like dragging the river you can expect something different from every dray (sip) from this barleywine. Enjoy this beer, Mateys!

Golden Antler is a limited edition IPA offering that comes out once per year. Intense papaya, pear, and tropical flavors coupled with a smooth malt backbone round out this beer. We’ll let you in on a little secret—we use Mosaic and Calypso hops for both the dry hop and late addition which leads to the intense one-two punch of flavor and aroma in this beer. It’s sure to please anyone out there that is in the pursuit of hoppiness!

The origins of the namesake and making of this beer starts with Ted (Head Beaver). He has been a long time supporter of Deep River and has always rolled out the red carpet for events at his place and is a genuinely swell dude (Beaver). We have been talking about doing a collaboration together since we opened. The stipulations of the beer were that it needed to be above 10% ABV, have coffee, and be aged in barrels. The first time we brewed this beer the Head Beaver was quite late. We poked and proded as to his excuse but could only surmise that he was busy building dams and forgot his phone back at the beaver lodge.

Crank up the oompah music and clink some steins with your homies. This beer is lagered up to 4 months to fully condition and balance our the caramel malt and the hop flavors produced by this beer. This beer is best enjoyed in a tent at a long wooden table and poured into a stein or enjoyed directly from a 16 ounce can. You may not be at Oktoberfest in Munich, but this beer is the next best thing to being there!
